8. Ebike Weights

Your Electric Bicycle weight can be very important.  When you haul it up stairs to your apartment or load it into a car or truck you will notice a significant difference in a heavier bike.  This ia part of the reason the 20" folding ebikes are so popular.  When you are riding your E-bike  you will not notice much difference in weight.

The weight of an e-bike can vary depending on various factors such as the type of bike, the materials used to build the bike, the size of the battery, and the type of motor used.

Generally, e-bikes can weigh anywhere from 35 to 100 pounds, with an average weight of around 45 to 70 pounds.

Cargo Bikes

Electric cargo bikes can weigh up to 100 pounds (45 kilograms) or more, due to their heavy-duty frames and the need to carry heavier loads and passengers, kids or adults.

Ultralight E-bikes

There are a few very light road E-bikes with small motors and small batteries that will weigh as little as 30 pounds.  These ebikes are usually designed to be powered by the rider with just a little boost from the motor for hills or against the wind.

Most ebike fall into the 45 to 75 pound range.

20" Folding Bikes

Some of the reasons that 20" wheels are very popular is their weight and strength.  20" wheels are stronger laterally than any of the larger diameter wheels.  With the wider tires like the 20x3" or20x 4" they are also much lighter than a larger diameter wheel with wide tires.  20" wheels will not roll over as large of an obstacle as a 26", 27.5", or 29" however curbs and most potholes are not usually a problem for the 3"x 20" or wider tires.

The weight or lack of weight of your E-bike will become important when you are putting it into the back of a car, pickup or up onto a rack.  A 50 pound bike is much easier to maneuver than a 70 or 100 pound bike.

The lighter bikes with smaller batteries and no gearing may be easier to maneuver and usually are less expensive however when you do not have gears and you run out of battery power it is much harder to ride home.
